Diarrhoea. Six deaths were certified as due to diarrhoeal
diseases, and 5 of these occurred in children under 2 years
of age. In 1926, the figures were 17 and 13 respectively.
Maternal Mortality. In England and Wales the deaths
of mothers from diseases primarily due to child bearing
approximate to four maternal deaths to every 1,000 live
births, and this figure has been more or less constant for
over 20 years. In 1927, six deaths in the Borough were due
to these groups of diseases, a figure below the average of the
last five years. The following Table shows the causes of
death each year since 1912.
