In 1924, the Council, with the approval of the Ministry of
Health, paid the class fees of one Health Visitor attending a
refresher course for Health Visitors.
Four Health Visitors received the Board of Education
Certificate during the year, namely, Miss Latham, Miss Burnett
Miss Tibbits and Miss Ware, and, between them, they received
twelve distinctions in the various subjects.
The following Table (No. 57) shews the classification of visits
paid by the Health Visitors in 1923 and 1924, and it will be
noted that there is a considerable increase in the number of
visits paid on account of measles. The number of measles
visits naturally varies from year to year according to whether
the disease is present in an epidemic form or not. During
epidemic periods of this disease the Health Visitors discontinue
the re-visiting of births, except in urgent cases, and concentrate
on the visiting of measles cases.
