CEREBROSPINAL MENINGITIS.
The number of cases of Cerebrospinal Meningitis notified
during the year was 12. All of these cases were treated in
hospital, and in the following Table the details relating to
each case are shown. It will be noticed that only two deaths
were certified to be due to meningococcal meningitis, one of
which belonged to another area.

Encephalitis Lethargica. Seventeen cases of encephalitis
lethargica were notified during the year. In addition there
was one death which was not notified. The total number of
deaths was six, but only five of these related to Woolwich
residents. One case occurred in March, four in April, four in
May, three in June, four in July, one in October, and one in
December. Two cases were definitely regarded as not cases
of encephalitis lethargica. Excluding these two, thirteen
cases were treated in hospital, four being treated in general
hospitals, six in hospitals of the Metropolitan Asylums Board,
