Natural Increase of Population. The natural increase of
population is the excess of births over deaths. In 1921 it
was 1,603; in 1922 it was 1,338; in 1923 it was 1,480; and in
1924 it was 1,047.
Table No. 8 shows the birth rates in each registration district
(after correction for outward and inward transfers) each year
since 1920 :—

Illegitimate Births. The following Table shows the number
of illegitimate births each year since 1920 and the illegitimate
birth rate per 1,000 births. In 1924, 58 were registered in
Woolwich, and 29 inward transfers and 13 outward transfers
were made by the Registrar General. The nett figure for the
Borough is therefore 74 :—
