the register it was found that 155 of them actually sold icecream
during the summer months. It is probable that the
weather which we had then did not justify the systematic
making of ice-cream, not so much from the lack of warmth
but from the extreme variation of temperature which took
place from day to day. There were 796 inspections of these
premises compared with 557 in 1923.
In concise form is given below a Table relating to premises
where food was prepared and sold.

Action taken with regard to Dairies, Cowsheds and Milk
Shops. The premises at which registered purveyors of milk
carry on their business have been subject to regular inspection.
During the year there were 13 applications made for registration
as retail purveyors of milk, 9 of which were approved
by the Council. In two instances the applications were withdrawn
and in two other instances the Council considered that
the premises were unsuitable and inadequate for the business.
