Home Isolation. 135 cases, or 10 per cent. of all cases,
were isolated at home and in only one instance did a return
case occur. All these cases were frequently visited at their
homes by the Sanitary Inspectors as in previous years, and
in no instance has there been any ground for supposing
that the public safety has been endangered by home isolation.
The Royal Arsenal authorities require cases to be removed
to hospital, or a certificate from your Medical Officer of
Health of efficient home isolation, before their employees are
allowed to return to work. During the year 33 such certificates
were issued as compared with 18, 22 and 21 in the three
preceding years.
Multiple Cases. The following Table (No. 31) shows the
house distribution of cases of scarlet fever in Wards:—

Deaths. The number of deaths due to scarlet fever was
10. The deaths and death-rate from this disease since 1917
are shown in Table No. 28.
