All three Parishes had the lowest rate yet recorded, Eltham
being the lowest of all
19 Table IVb gives full details as to the ages at death,
and causes of death, of the 240 infants dying in 1909 under
one year It shows that 36 per cent. of those who died were
under one month old, and 23 per cent. under one week old
41 deaths were from premature birth, compared with 65, 75,
61, and 72 in the four preding years, and of the remainder,
43 (27 in 1908) were attributed to Atrophy, Debility and
