19. The County of London had a lower infantile mortality in
1903. Table VII. shows that four Metropolitan Boroughs only
had a lower infantile mortality than Woolwich, viz., St. Marvlebone,
Holborn, Lewisham and Hampstead. The rates for St.
Marylebone and Holborn are not corrected for births of nonresidents
in lying-in institutions. If this were done their
infantile mortality would probably be higher than that of
Woolwich.
