I.— STATISTICS AND SOCIAL CONDITIONS
OF THE AREA.
Population.— The estimate of the Registrar-General to the mid-year 1937
is 203,100.
Births.— The total number of live births of Stepney residents during the
year was 2,759—1,439 males and 1,320 females—or 308 less than in the
previous year.
Births in Public Institutions in the Borough.— The birth-rate was 13.5
per 1,000 of the population.
4,198 births occurred in Public Institutions in the Borough, of which
1,829 belonged to Stepney and 2,369 belonged to other Boroughs.
