Miscallaneous Samples.
Private Purchaser.—1 sample of Butter and 1 sample of Preservative

Health Department consisting of:—Tinned Foods 10, Formalin 5, Milk 5,
Apples 3, Pigments 3, Margarine 3, Dried Milk 1, Face Powder 1, Cream
Cheese 1, Seeds 1, Rag Flock 1, Urine 1, Liquid Egg 1, Cucumbers 1, and

Two of the samples of tinned foods were unsatisfactory, one sample of
tinned salmon containing 2.4 grains of tin to the pound and one sample of
sardine and tomato paste contained the very excessive amount of 9'3 grains of
tin to the pound. This latter sample was about ten years old and the interior
of the tin, which was of the small flat variety, was badly corroded over the
whole surface.
One sample of milk was examined for poisons with negative results.
None of the remaining miscellaneous samples calls for comment.
