SHOPS ACT, 1934.
The number of inspections and re-inspections made under this
Act was 2,129. The number of intimation notices served under the
Act was 6. Certificates of exemption under Section 10 (provision
of sanitary conveniences) were issued in 38 instances.
AGED AND INFIRM PERSONS.
Section 224 of the Public Health (London) Act, 1936, relating
to the compulsory removal to hospital of persons in need of care
and attention was replaced by Section 47 of the National Assistance
Act, 1948, from the 5th July.
During the year it was necessary to apply for a Magistrate's
order under Section 224 of the public Health (London) Act, 1936,
for the removal of one person.
RAG AND BONE DEALERS.
There are 12 premises in the Borough in which the business of
Rag and Bone Dealer is carried on. Twenty-three visits were paid
and one notice was served during the year.
PLEASURE FAIR BYE-LAWS.
Inspections were made of all sites which were used as fairgrounds
during the year, but no contravention of these bye-laws
was observed.
RENT AND MORTGAGE INTEREST (RESTRICTIONS) ACTS.
During the year 7 certificates were issued to tenants as to
houses not being in a reasonable state of repair.
