In the other samples submitted for count b. coli was absent in 1/10 c.c. The total
counts of these 47 samples are shown in the following table:—

The remaining four samples of pasteurised milk were submitted to the phosphatase
test. Satisfactory results were obtained in all cases.
UNDESIGNATED MILK
During the year 31 samples of undesignated milk were submitted for bacteriological
examination. Of these 31 samples, 3 were from individual cows in the borough,
and b. coli was absent in 1/10 c.c. in all of these samples. The total counts in these
3 samples were all between 1,000 and 26,000.
In the other 28 cases samples were taken in course of delivery. In these b. coli
was present in 1/1,000 c.c. in eight samples, present in 1/100 c.c. in one sample, present
in 1/10 c.c. in three samples and absent in 1/10 c.c. in the remaining sixteen samples.

CONDENSED MILK REGULATIONS
Twelve samples of condensed milk were submitted for analysis under the above
Regulations, all of which were certified to comply with the standard laid down.
TUBERCULOUS MILK
Samples of milk entering London are taken by the London County Council at
railway termini and also from supplies entering by road.
There is one cowshed in Shoreditch. Three samples of milk from this and twentyfour
samples of milk in course of delivery were submitted for guinea pig test, but in no
instance was the presence of tubercle bacilli reported.
