The following table gives particulars of the actual age incidence of deaths from prematurity for a period of twelve years:—

From this table and from the consideration of corresponding rates it must be
concluded that the deaths of premature infants are not becoming less numerous, and
that there has been little change in the actual period of death. Most of these deaths
occurred under the age of one week.
