Water Supply.
The number of certificates issued as required under the Public Health
(London) Act, 1891, Section 48 (2), was 24.
The water supply is almost entirely from the Metropolitan Water Board.
There are nine artesian wells in the Borough, the water from one of which
is used for brewing. In no instance is well water, so far as is known, being
used for drinking purposes at the present time. There is a satisfactory supply
of drinking water from the mains in the Public Elementary Schools.

Registration of Hairdressers.
At the end of the year the number of hairdressers in the Borough on the
voluntary register of hairdressers agreeing to comply with the hygienic requirements
of the Council was 12.
At its meeting in October, after considering a report from the Health
Committee on the matter, the Council resolved to discontinue the scheme of
voluntary registration of hairdressers.
Smoke Nuisances.
There was 1 communication from the London County Council referring
to the emission of black smoke. This was duly brought to the notice of the
person responsible. Some 33 observations were made by the Inspectors.
FOOD.
Street Markets and Food.
The Street Markets were kept under observation in the evenings and on
Sunday mornings in accordance with arrangements approved by this Committee.
