The provision of previous Rent Restrictions Acts under which the
Council were empowered to issue a certificate as to the state of repair of a
controlled dwelling house has been made compulsory under the new Act and
not merely permissive as previously.
The number of these certificates issued during the last six years has been
as follows : —
1928, 5; 1929, 1; 1930, 3; 1931, 1; 1932, 4; 1933, 3.
The Provost Street Site.
Throughout the year covered by this report the situation regarding this
site remained practically unchanged (Annual Report, 1932, page 110).
Demolition, however, was commenced by the London County Council early
in 1934 preparatory to developing the area which comprises Provost Street,
Moneyer Street, Marsom Street, and Custance Street, and contains 53 houses.
At the time of writing one block of 30 flats is in course of erection on the
north side of the area and is likely to be ready for occupation by about the
end of the year.
