ANNUAL REPORT
OF the
MEDICAL OFFICER OF HEALTH.
Town Hall,
Old Street, E.C. 1.
September, 1929.
To the MAYOR, ALDERMEN and COUNCILLORS
of the Metropolitan Borough of Shoreditch.
Sir, Ladies and Gentlemen,
I have the honour to present my Annual Report for the year 1928.
In this, which deals with the first year during which I have had the honour to
hold the post of Medical Officer of Health of the Borough, it will be found that the
arrangement is slightly different from that of previous reports.
The statistical information that has formerly been contained in an appendix
will here be found in the appropriate sections of the main body of the report.
The general health of the Borough has been satisfactorily maintained during
the year.
Owing to the new appointments and to the extension of the work of the department,
much thought and time have been devoted to the consideration of the question
of reorganisation. I have to thank the members of the Council and, in particular,
the Chairman and members of the Health and Maternity and Child Welfare Committees
for their assistance in this and in all other matters relating to the work for
which I am respopsible.
I have also to acknowledge the help rendered by my colleagues on the staff of
this department. Health work is team work, and I am happy to be able to report
that the team spirit has been everywhere in evidence.
