In connection with the foregoing 4 old brick drains were abolished, and in
43 instances nuisances and annoyance due to rats on premises were dealt with. In
82 instances water supplies were restored to premises, and in 135 leaky water
pipes were repaired. In 7 instances urinals were constructed or reconstructed,
and in 30 instances they were cleansed and repaired. Foul accumulations causing
or likely to cause nuisances were dealt with on 153 premises. Nuisances through
the improper stabling of animals were remedied in 39 instances, and in two
instances stables were paved or repaired under the supervision of the sanitary
officers.
The foregoing summary includes the work carried out under the Factory and
Workshops Act, 1901, and also that done in connection with the drains and sanitary
arrangements of new buildings.

For non-compliance with statutory notices and for breaches of by-laws proceedings were taken before a Magistrate with the results stated below:—

With respect to the house in Alma Street, the owner was in default through
not complying with a statutory notice under the Public Health (London) Act, 1891,
as amended by the London County Council (General Powers) Act, 1907, requiring
the provision of an additional water tap for the occupiers, the premises being an
occupied tenement dwelling-house.
The three summonses in the case of the house in Branch Place were taken
against the owner for not complying with the requirements of three statutory
notices requiring the removal of an accumulation of rubbish in the yard, the
