Home Visits
Home visits by Organisers during 1967 totalled 11,936.
The service continues to meet the heavy demands upon it
and those in real and genuine need of help are always given high
priority.
Conditions of full employment and high standards of living
render recruitment somewhat difficult, and it is not always possible
to provide as much help in some instances as requested, but basic
requirements both for the aged living alone and for maternity
patients are met, and will continue to be met.
A minimal quantity of help is provided to people who have
relatives living with them or who have sons and/or daughters
living close by.
VENEREAL DISEASES
Under the National Health Service Act of 1946, diagnosis
and treatment of venereal diseases became a responsibility of the
Regional Hospital Boards and the functions of the local health
authorities were limited to those of prevention. This involves
the tracing of contacts wherever possible, and health education.
There are no treatment centres for these diseases within the
Borough.
I am indebted to the Physicians at the undermentioned treatment
centres for the following statistics for 1967: —
