(b)Composition: The foreign body in the capped milk bottle consists of a horse chestnut approximately 3 cm. in diameter.Legal proceedings. Dairy Company fined £10 with £9 19s. Od. costs.

Margarine.
(x)Composition: Embedded in the margarine was a small fragment (0.5 cm. x 0.2 cm.) of mineral matter coated with a substance of the nature of tar; it may have derived from a road surface.Reported to Committee. Origin of foreign matter not ascertained. No further action.

An opened can of Pineapple Cubes.
(y)Composition: The can was badly dented resulting in the development of a small slit in one end plate which allowed the entrance of mould spores. The growths were extensive and of the Penicillium type-Reported to Committee. Vendor warned.

Marmalade.
(p)Composition: A complaint of mould growths. The soluble solids of this sample at 72% were satisfactory. The growths were limited to the surface where at some stage condensation of water had occurred allowing such growths to occur.Reported to Committee. Manufacturers warned.

(z)Composition: Contained the food colour Blue VRS which is no longer permitted in Britain.Correspondence with Manufacturers. Withdrawn from sale.

(f)Composition: Contained a glass fragment. It was not possible to confirm whether or not it had been baked in the bread.Reported to Committee. Origin of foreign matter not ascertained. No further action.

(f)Composition: Embedded in the loaf was the upper part of a No. 10 1¾ in. wood screw which showed signs of considerable usage.Reported to Committee. Baker warned.
Serial No. 1568.This case was taken into account by the Court at the hearing of case Serial No. F.C. 185 -Total fines £15 with £9 6s. 1d. costs.

(f)Composition: The crumb had become soiled with iron and mineral oil.
