8 samples taken from Corporation's Swimming Pool—6 were
satisfactory and 2 unsatisfactory.
30 samples taken from privately owned Swimming Baths
and Pools— 25 were satisfactory, 3 unsatisfactory and 2 were
found to have a high bacterial count which were reduced by
efficient treatment.
PUBLIC CLEANSING AND REFUSE COLLECTION.
The Borough Engineer reports that the reconstruction of cell
unit No. 2 at the Refuse Destructor was completed during the
year and that of unit No. 1 commenced.
Separate containers to receive salvage wastepaper were
fitted to all side loading refuse collection vehicles during 1948.
SANITARY INSPECTION OF THE AREA.

Table VIII in the appendix of statistical tables gives full details of the work carried out by the Sanitary Inspectors during the year, and the following are the aggregate totals under the respective headings:—
