BROMLEY SCHOOLS BOOT CLUB.
The Chairman reports as follows:—
The Bromley Schools' Boot Club has continued to operate
successfully during the year ended 31st December, 1948.
Contributions received from members amounted to £437
and purchases of footwear amounted to £441 17s. 3d. net.
At the end of the year there were 680 members and 629
purchases were made during 1948.
NECESSITOUS CASES.
The School Welfare Officer reports that during the year
there were twenty-four applications for clothing in respect of
forty-five children of school age. The total cost involved was
£62 13s. 9½d.
INFECTIOUS DISEASES IN SCHOOL.
In addition to the usual infectious diseases, i.e., measles,
whooping cough, etc., three cases of Diphtheria in children of
school age were notified during the year. Two of these cases
were of a severe type and in both instances the child had not
been immunised against the disease. The third case was mild in
type and the child had been immunised.
Several cases of scarlet fever have been notified during the
year, but these have been mostly of a mild type and no drastic
action has been called for.
It is pleasing to note that only one case of infantile paralysis
occurred in a child of school age during the year.
The figures of absentees during 1948. affecting Primary and
Modern School attendance owing to infectious disease are as
follows:—
