STILLBIRTHS.
The Registrar General's returns for the year show that the
number of stillbirths registered for the area was 34 (after adjustment
for inward and outward transfers), which represents a stillbirth
rate of 25.33 per 1,000 (live and still) births, and 0.54 per
1,000 population.

The number of stillbirths, rates per 1,000 births, and rates per 1,000 population for the past ten years, with comparative rates per 1,000 population for England and Wales, are shown in the following table:—

Thirty-seven stillbirths were notified to the Medical Officer
of Health as occurring in the Borough during the year, of which
35 occur-red in hospital and 2 were home confinements.
