This table is taken from the returns submitted under
the regulations. Unfortunately it does not give a true
return of infectious diseases in schools as the regulations
of notification by head teachers is not strictly complied
with.
Medical Certificates of Exclusion from School.
The certificates issued by general practitioners for the
exclusion of children from school is summarised in the
following list, which shows the type of illness causing loss
of school attendance, and may be taken in conjunction with
I able II, of the Medical Inspection returns to the Board
of Education. The returns again show the prevalence of
ear, nose and throat defects.
