VII.—SMOKE POLLUTION.
Thirteen routine visits and observations were made,
and the inspectors were successful in getting four smoke
nuisances abated as a result of informal action. In these
four instances it was necessary to make suggestions for
improvement in stoking which were willingly carried
out.
Three of the Sanitary Inspectors hold the special
certificate for smoke inspection of the Royal Sanitary
Institute.
VIII.—SHOPS ACTS.
Eight hundred and seventeen visits were made under
these Acts. Failure to display statutory notice with
reference to the Assistants' Half-Holiday and hours of
employment of Assistants under 18 years were remedied
in G3 instances. In each case the necessary forms were
provided forthwith by the shop-keepers.
