The following table is a repetition of the quarterly returns during 1934:—

Overcrowding.
Twenty-nine houses were visited with regard to
overcrowding conditions, 25 of which were visited on
complaint received and four during the course of routine
work. Nuisance from overcrowding was found to exist
in 12 instances, and 10 of these cases had been remedied
at the close of the year.
Statutory Notices.
Nine dwelling-houses were concerned with the service
of statutory notices under the Public Health Acts, but no
statutory notice was issued under the Housing Act, 1930.
Houses Let in Lodgings.
There is an increasing tendency to convert the larger
residences into flats and the demand for service flats is

problem. This tendency to live in "Community houses"
is, in my view, a retrograde step and one that must affect
our national social habits.
