HOUSING APPLICATIONS
The staff of the Public Health Department work in close liaison
with that of the Housing Department. I, myself, have frequent
meetings with Mr. Simpson, Housing Officer, to review and discuss
cases regarding medical priority. The Public Health Inspectors also
are often called upon to visit housing applicants in order to make a
report on their living conditions.
SMOKE CONTROL
During the year the 6th Smoke Control Order controlling an
area comprising part of the Noel Park Estate and premises in the
vicinity of Wood Green Underground Station, became operative.
Towards the end of the year, two further Smoke Control
Orders were made. The first to control, subject to Ministerial
approval, a further part of the Noel Park Estate, and the second to
control premises in the Ewart Grove and Williams Grove area on
the 1 st November, 1965.
Since the Council will not exist to make further Smoke Control
Orders, it is perhaps fitting at this stage to summarise below the
progress made to date:—
