MATERNAL MORTALITY
No cases of maternal mortality were reported.
INFANT MORTALITY
There were 21 deaths of infants under 1 year of age. This
gives an infant death rate of 24.53 per 1,000 live births as compared
with 15 deaths and a rate of 16.74 in the preceding year.
Of the 21 infants who died in Wood Green during 1964, 11
were neo-natal deaths, that is deaths occurring in the first month
and, of these, 8 occurred during the first week of life. These very
early deaths now constitute the hard core of all infant deaths and
are under the most careful scrutiny.

STILL BIRTHS
Thirteen still births were accredited to the Borough for 1964.
This is equal to a death rate of 14.96 per 1,000 births, live and still,
the corresponding figures for 1963 being 13 still births with a rate
of 14.51.
