connected to the main, sewers which carry the sewage to a pumping
station situated in Tottenham. Here the sewage is pumped into
the London County Council's sewers, by arrangements with that
Council. The pumping station and main sewer in Lordship Lane
are under the control of a Joint Drainage Committee, consisting of
representatives from Tottenham and Wood Green.
The surface-water drains discharge into the Council's surfacewater
sewers through which the surface-water flows into the Moselle
and M us well Brooks, and by these is carried finally into the River
Lea.
BATHS.
Wood Green is well provided with public baths. The Swimming
Pool in Durnsford Road was open for the third year during the
summer months, but owing to the prevalence of cold and wet
weather, the attendances were much fewer than during the previous
summer. Every endeavour is made to maintain the efficiency and
attractiveness of this open-air bath, and the cleanliness of the
water is assured by the fact that the whole contents of the pool
are filtrated, strained, aerated and chlorinated once in every six
hours.
The Western Road Baths were closed for reconstruction from
September to the end of the year so that the attendances there
were also much fewer than in previous years. With the reconstruction
and modernisation of these baths, Wood Green is now well
equipped with public baths for all seasons of the year, and from
the numbers attending it is obvious that good use is made of them.
The filtration at the Western Road Baths is carried out by a
Peterson Standard Pressure Filter installed in 1928.
The attendances at the Swimming Pool in Durnsford Road, the
Western Road Baths and the open-air bath on the racecourse at

Alexandra Park for the last three years are shown below:—
