nursing assistance made. In some cases this offer was accepted,
but in most the patient was removed to hospital.
Puerperal Fever and Puerperal Pyrexia.
Four cases of puerperal fever were notified. Three were removed
to one of the L.C.C. Hospitals, under the arrangement
made between this Council and the London County Council. A
fourth case occurred in a hospital in which the confinement had
taken place. In all four cases recovery took place, but death
occurred in a fifth case which had not been notified.
There were ten notifications of puerperal pyrexia. Recovery
took place in each case.
Ophthalmia Neonatorum.
Seven notifications of this disease were received. Five of
them occurred in patients in hospitals. In six cases complete
recovery took place. In the seventh the child was removed to
another district before recovery was complete.
The numbers of cases of non-notifiable infectious diseases reported to me during the year from the elementary schools were as follows:—

On receipt of these notifications, visits to the homes are made
by the School Nurses to make sure that proper treatment is being
provided and the necessary precautions taken in each case.
