MATERNITY AND CHILD WELFARE.
For the purposes of this work I have thought it advisable todivide
the town into Eastern and Western Districts, placing a
Health Visitor in charge of each area, and for the sake of convenience
they are known respectively as Sister East and Sister West.
During the year we opened two centres—one, St. John's Hall,
Brook Road (Fridays, from 1.30 to 4 p.m.), and one at the
Congregational Hall, Alexandra Park Road (Mondays, 1.30 to
4 p.m.).
I regret to report that the latter centre did not prove the success,
with respect to the attendances, that the Committee had anticipated,
and we had, reluctantly, to close the same after being opened for
twelve months.
So that during the year Child Welfare Centres were opened at:—
Monday.—Congregational Church Hall, Arcadian Gardens—
1.30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Tuesday.—Trinity Hall, Trinity Road—9.30 a.m. to 12 noon,
1.30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Wednesday.—Congregational Hall, Lordship Lane—1.30 p.m. to
4 p.m.
Thursday.—Congregational Hall, Lordship Lane—9.30 a.m. to
12 noon, 1.30 p.m . to 4 p.m.
Friday.—St. John's Hall, Brook Road—1.30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The Alexandra Centre, to which I referred above, was opened
on Mondays, from 1.30 to 4 p.m.
