Registered under the Act.
Maternity and Nursing Homes in Willesden are visited once in every three months, for the
purpose of routine inspection. This includes inspection of the home, enquiries as to the staff, inspection
of register and report book required to be kept under the Public Health Act, 1936, and the bye-laws
made by the Council under section 190 of the Act. In addition, special visits are made to the homes for

The inspections are carried out by a qualified nurse with special experience in midwifery.
She is directly responsible to the Medical Officer of Health in giving reports as to the condition of
the homes and for receiving instructions.
The keepers of Maternity or Nursing Homes are required under the Public Health Act, 1936,
to send particulars to the Local Authority of any child under the age of 9 years received into the
homes, both at the time of reception and of removal, unless the child is accompanied by a parent or
guardian.
