The other forty-one samples showed no evidence of tuberculosis.
The following are particulars of the six positive samples:—
0/316.—Samples of milk taken from producer's herd proved to be negative. Herd being kept
under observation.
0/326.—Herd of fifty-eight cows belonging to producer examined. Fifty-three cows were
found to be normal. Separate samples taken from five cows with some abnormality
of the udder proved negative.
0/329.—Taken from same producer as sample No. 0/326. Bulk samples of milk from
producer's herd proved negative. Investigations continuing.
0/334.—Samples from producer's herd proved negative. Veterinary Surgeon followed up a
cow which had been disposed of the day previous to inspection. This cow was taken by
him under the Tuberculosis Order and his diagnosis was confirmed on post-mortem
examination.
0/335.—Veterinary Surgeon visited farm and inspected cows in dairy herd. Fifteen cows had
"gone dry" since sample was taken. Four bulk samples taken proved negative.
0/340.—Veterinary Surgeon found three cows with bad quarters, and one red cow regarded as
suspicious, was excluded from herd. Milk from bulk sample appears to have induced
tuberculosis in the inoculated animal. Investigations continuing. Herd on farm,
namely sixty-five animals grouped for sampling and investigations continuing.
01347.—Investigations proceeding.
Meat Inspection.—The Inspectors visit the slaughter-houses at the times set apart for
slaughtering and examine the carcases and organs for evidence of disease. Shops and stalls are
