In addition to the School work each Centre is responsible in its respective area for the inspection
and treatment of expectant and nursing mothers and infants under school age.
School Dental Work.—The Council's scheme which was put into operation in October,
1924, is still in force and provides for:—
(1) Routine dental inspection of all school children to be carried out annually in order that
any defects requiring attention may be detected and parents informed as early as
possible and advised to obtain treatment.
(2) Public elementary school children found on examination to be suffering from dental
defects requiring attention are referred to a private registered dentist.
(3) Public elementary school children found to be suffering from dental defects and who are
necessitous under the scale adopted by the committee may be treated at the Centres
free of charge.
(4) Public elementary school children found to be suffering from dental defects and who are
not necessitous under the scale adopted by the Committee may be treated at the Centres
on payment of 2s. 6d.
