APPENDIX D.
WILLESDEN EDUCATION COMMITTEE.
STAMMERING CHILDREN.
I beg to report in accordance with the following Minute of the Children's Care Committee of
13th January, 1926 :—
" Treatment of Stammering Children.
The Managers of the Kensal Rise Group of Council Schools ask us to consider the
advisability of extending at the earliest possible moment the existing facilities for the treatment
of stammering children. A second class has just commenced at the Pound Lane Council
School, and, before any further action is taken hereon, we are of opinion that it would be
advisable for the Medical Officer to report on the progress of the scholars attending the stammering
classes already formed. We therefore recommend—
That the Managers of the Kensal Rise Group of Council Schools be informed that the
Committee have adjourned consideration of their application pending the receipt
of the above report."
Pound Lane Class.—'This class having opened as lately as 12th January, 1926, no information
of any value is at present available with regard to the progress of the scholars attending the class
I propose, therefore, with your approval, to report on this matter at a later date.
Percy Road Class.—The following particulars, therefore, refer only to the class held at the Percy
Road Council School. The information given has been obtained from the reports of the Head Teachers,
Mr. Bradfield, the instructor of the class, and the parents.
GEORGE F. BUCHAN,
Medical Officer of Health.
To be presented to the Children's Care Committee on the 10th February, 1926.
