Advantages
of Second
Assistant
Medical
Officer being
a Qualified
Medical
Woman.
The Second Assistant Medical Officer of Schools
should possess similar qualifications, and perform
similar duties to those of the Assistant Officer, but'

The work is of a character which a properly
trained medical woman may be relied upon to perform

more acceptable to many of the parents than would
a medical man : in the case of female teachers,
delicate communications will be the more readily
conveyed when the barrier of sex is removed.
It is unnecessary to approve, or disapprove, the
basis on which these preferences rest, it is sufficient
that they exist and have to be reckoned with.

carrying out the requirements of the Act, and I
estimate that this will fully occupy a clerk devoting
the whole of his time to the duties-
The work of the Lady Health Visitors will be
considerably augmented as a result of this
