MORTALITY.
General Mortality.—There were 440 deaths of residents registered
in the Borough, and 260 of residents who died in Public
Institutions outside of the Borough, making a total of 700 deaths.

Of these 365 were of females, and 335 were of males.

The recorded general death-rate is therefore 14.1, as against
12'6 for the preceding year.
The so-called " factor for correction" for the Borough of
Stoke Newington is 0.9512, and the death-rate corrected for age and
sex distribution is 14.1 x0.9512=13.4 per 1,000 per annum.
The recorded rate is above that for the preceding year, when
it was 12.6. This increase is almost entirely due to more deaths
from Measles, Cancer, and Senility. The death-rate for the whole
of London was 15.0.
District Mortality. — The deaths among residents of the
Northern Division of the Borough numbered 212, and furnished
a recorded death-rate of 12.6 per 1,000 per annum.
The deaths among the residents of the Southern Division of
the Borough numbered 488, and furnished a recorded death-rate
of 14.8 per 1,000 per annum.
