Regulation 17 (First'aid materials)
Adequate first-aid equipment was provided at 4 food premises.
Regulation 18 (Accommodation for clothing, etc.)
Accommodation for clothing was provided at 4 food premises.
Regulation 19 (Facilities for washing food and equipment)
In compliance with this Regulation, it was found necessary
to require a sink to be provided.
Regulation 23 (Cleanliness and repair, etc., of food premises)
Cleaning and repair work was carried out at 18 food premises
to comply with the requirements of this Regulation.
I am pleased to be able to report that all improvements were
secured without recourse by the Council to legal proceedings.
Legal proceedings, however, were instituted by the Council
under the Food and Drugs Act, 1955, in respect of the following
offences :
Sale of toffee containing glass Firm fined £10
Sale of bun containing a cigarette end Firm fined £20
Sale of bread containing tobacco Firm fined £40 plus
£5 5s. 0d. costs
Sale of milk containing glass Firm fined £5 plus
£3 3s. 0d. costs
Smoking while handling open food Fined £10 plus
£3 3s. 0d. costs
Food Inspection
The following is a summary of the food condemned during
the year as unfit for human consumption. The food, all of which
was in small quantities, was carefully mixed-in with household
refuse at the Council's Refuse Collection Works and disposed of
at the controlled tipping site used by the Council:
Fish 4½ stone
Fish (frozen) 6 lbs.
Meat (carcase) 505 lbs.
Meat (offal) 37 lbs.
Potatoes 35 cwt.
Ham (canned) 216 lbs.
Ham (cooked) 8 lbs.
Canned Meats (various) 74 lbs.
Canned Foods (various) 358 cans
