Visiting.—The arrangements for visiting patients remain
unaltered and still appear satisfactory.
Laboratory.—Details of the Laboratory work carried out in
connection with the Hospital will be found on page 21.
Miscellaneous.—(l) The eldest patient treated in the Hospital
during the year was a male aged 78 suffering from erysipelas; the
youngest was a child aged seven weeks, also suffering from
erysipelas.
(2) The main feature of the year's work has been the average
severity of the cases admitted and the large variety of diseases
treated. Each year appears to throw an increased responsibility
upon the shoulders of the nursing staff, but each year they rise to
the occasion and give of their best in the work which lies before
them. I should not like to let this opportunity pass without once
again expressing my gratitude to Miss West, Matron, and to every
member of the nursing and administrative staff for the help which
they afforded me during the year. Without their cordial co-operation
and assistance the whole structure would fall to pieces. That
this help has been forthcoming is surely evidenced in the few pages
of statistics which have just been submitted.
I should also like to thank my deputy, Dr. Burns, who once
again rendered invaluable services too numerous to mention,
during the year.
