There are no chimneys in the district connected to exempted
furnaces. Fortnightly observations of all chimneys in the Borough
continue to be made.
Ponds and Rubbish Dumps.—Complaints regarding nuisance
from ponds and rubbish dumps are still received from time to time,
but are decreasing. As might be expected considering the rapid
extension of building within the district, complaints from these
sources have materially diminished during the past five years, as
the district continues to lose its last few remaining rural identities.
Common Lodging Houses, Houses-let-in-lodgings, etc.—
Very little difficulty has been met with in administering the byelaws
governing these types of premises, but the requirements
continue to receive constant supervision.
Schools.—As hitherto, all the schools within the district
receive periodical visits of inspection from the Sanitary Inspectors.
Apart from two schools, the conditions found were, on the whole,
satisfactory, only a few minor defects being reported.
In the case of the two exceptions—Chase Road and Cockfosters
Schools—both of which are church schools, plans have been submitted
for reconstruction. It is anticipated that such reconstruction
will bring the schools up to a reasonable standard from a
health point of view.
Rag Flock Acts, 1911 and 1928.—There are no premises in
the district manufacturing, selling or using Rag Flock according
to the Acts.
