These Nursing Homes provide facilities for the treatment of
medical, surgical and maternity cases, and are under the direct
supervision of the Middlesex County Council.
Nursing in the Home.—(a) The Southgate Queen's Nursing
Association continues its excellent work which is increasing each
year, as the extraordinary value which the services provides becomes
better known. During 1935, the nurses made a total of 13,661
domiciliary visits (11,232, 1934.) At the Physico-therapeutic
Clinic, 1,342 patients were treated, while the total number of
treatments given was 7,486. The corresponding figures for 1934
were 1,182 and 6,563 respectively.
By the time this report appears, an arrangement will have
been completed between the Southgate Borough Council and the
Southgate Queen's Nursing Association, whereby the Council will
pay an annual sum of £100 to the Nursing Association in respect
of services to be rendered to the Borough. These services will
include the home nursing of certain infectious diseases, the use of
the physico-therapeutic clinic, and other Public Health measures of
considerable value. There can be no doubt that these arrangements
will prove if very great service to the Borough, and they should mark
the inception of an even closer and more cordial co-operation
between the Borough Council and the Nursing Association than has
hitherto been possible.
(b) As previously indicated, home nursing of certain infectious
diseases will how be undertaken by the Southgate Queen's Nursing
Association at the request of the Borough Council, where such home
nursing is considered necessary or desirable.
