The Clerk to the Kent County Council has kindly furnished the following statement of the 62 samples taken:—
39 New milk | 3 Butter |
1 Coffee | 1 Dried fruit |
2 Flour | 2 Ground ginger |
1 Lard. | 1 Margarine. |
1 Condensed milk | 2 Olive oil |
1 Rice | 1 Sausages |
2 Sugar | 1 Pepper |
1 Tapioca | 1 Tea |
1 Vinegar | 1 Cooked meats |
All samples were found to be genuine.
In addition, 72 informal samples of new milk were purchased
by your inspectors and submitted for analysis. Of
these 61 samples were reported genuine and 11 slightly below
standard. Subsequent samples in the latter cases proved to
be genuine. One formal sample was obtained and reported to
be genuine.
Chemical and Bacteriological Examination of Food.
Informal samples of milk are analysed by an analytical
chemist in London, and formal samples by the Public Analyst
for Kent.
Facilities are available at the Kent County Laboratory
and the Clinical Research Association for the bacteriological
examination of food.
