During the year 123 specimens of sputum were sent to the Kent County Laboratory, Maidstone, to be examined for tubercle bacillus; 31 of these were positive.

coming to the knowledge of the Medical Officer of Health are
included in these figures, such as cases which have been
previously notified to other districts and transferred to Penge,
and patients who died from tuberculosis and were not notified
previous to death.
