Cancer.
This disease was the certified cause of death in 37 cases
(males 18, and females 19). The organs affected were: Gastrointestinal
Tract, 15; Breast, 7; Bladder, 6; Respiratory
Organs, 2; Kidneys, 2; and other sites, 5.
The Cancer Death Rate per 1,000 population was 1.43,
compared with 1.96 in 1935. The rate for England and
Wales was 1 .62.
Prevention of Blindness.
One infant received treatment for suppurative ophthalmia
and made a good recovery.
