Factories and Workshops.
There are 124 factories and workshops on the register,
in the great majority of which very few people are employed.
Six notices were served respecting cleansing, defective sanitary
accommodation, etc., and complied with.
Rats and Mice (Destruction) Act, 1919.
Complaints were received from various parts of the district
and investigated, 99 visits being paid in this connection.
Poisons were supplied, traps set and lent, and rat-runs gassed.
Poison baits were also laid in the sewers from time to time.
When considered necessary, the drains of premises were tested
with smoke.
Shops Acts.
The Shops Act, 1934, which came into force on the 30th
December, 1934, imposes upon Sanitary Authorities the duty
of enforcing the requirements of the Act relating to the
ventilation, temperature and lighting of shops, and the
provision of sanitary accommodation and washing facilities
for the use of persons employed in or about shops.
