Whole Orange Drink. Soluble
solids 8.3, acidity 0.9, potable fruit
not more than 7%. Food Standards
Committee recommend mini10%.
Sulphite 340, Saccharin
420 p.p.m. Inferior.
A further sample of this orange
drink was submitted to the Analyst
and was found to be satisfactory.
(f) Serial No. 531.
Rooked Turkey. The fat showed
signs of incipient rancidity which
might be due to the interval
Between cooking and receipt. It
also had a slight but definite fishy
savour, the most likely cause of
jyhich would be the food on which
116 bird had been reared. Inferior.
The complainant was notified of
the result of the analysis, but no
further action was taken.
Food Hygiene Regulations, 1955.
There were no prosecutions under the above Regulations during
A total of 1,333 inspections were made by the District Inspectors
during the year.
As a result of these inspections, 108 informal notices were served
the proprietors, and by the end of the year the following works had
been carried out at various food premises: —

Complaints
Thirty-three complaints of unsound condition and/or contamination
of foodstuffs were received from the public during the year, as
under. Where the condition of the food could not be determined by
visual examination, the article was sent to the Council's Analyst. In
each case it was possilble to give a satisfactory explanation to the complainant
and restitution was made as necessary.
