INFANTILE MORTALITY.
The number of deaths registered as occurring in Infants
under one year of age was 41 (25 males and 16 females). Of
these 34 were legitimate and 7 were illegitimate.
The Infantile Mortality Rate was equal to 52 per thousand
births, as compared with 64 last year.
The Infantile Mortality Rate for England and Wales was
58 and for 1936, 59.
DEATHS AT DIFFERENT AGES.
Deaths in Children between One and Five Years.—Fourteen
deaths occurred in children between the ages of one and five
years. This is equal to a Death Rate of 0.32 per thousand of
population.
Deaths in Persons of 65 Years and Over.—The number of
deaths registered as occurring in persons of 65 years and over
was 175. This is equal to a Death Rate of 4.0 per thousand of
population, and comprises 45.5 per cent, of total deaths.
CAUSES OF DEATHS.
The Deaths in 1937 included:—
Diphtheria 3 Pneumonia 26
Influenza 8 Bronchitis 8
Pulmonary Tuberculosis 19 Appendicitis 2
Other Tuberculous Nephritis 6
Diseases 2 Congenital Debility, etc. 23
