Every effort is made, to notify and keep under observation babies and young children
who may have a handicap requiring special educational treatment in an ordinary
school or at a special school or referral to a training centre. All of the Local
Authority Health Services participate in the assessment of these young children
particularly backward children and the Day Nursery often plays a valuable part in this.
It is interesting to record the following who were recommended for special treatment
in 1962.
