Lecture to Food Traders.
A meeting, the first of the kind to be held within the Borough,
took place at the Lecture Hall, Leytonstone Library, in August,
1948.
Two hundred representatives were present from the various
food traders in the district, as well as members of the Leyton
Borough Council.
The Chairman of the Public Health Committee (Councillor
Mrs. Burrell), who presided, extended a warm welcome to the
representatives, and explained the reasons for convening the
meeting.
A lecture entitled "The Importance of Hygiene in Food
Premises" was delivered by the Senior Sanitary Inspector, after
which the Chairman invited questions.
At the close of the meeting a film "The Town Rat", kindly
loaned by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, was shown.
