Report by the Authority's Senior Dental Officer
(A.E. Hall, L.D.S.)
It is pleasing to note that the number of teeth extracted shows
a decrease when compared with the previous year. At the same
time the number of children treated, and the amount of conservative
work done, shows an increase. This is all to the good, as any
relative increase in the number of fillings compared with extractions
shows a better dental condition of the children when seen at school
inspection, and may be in part due to an increase in the dental
consciousness of parent or child.
Owing to the gradually increasing number of children in
attendance since 1939-41, the period between successive dental
inspections has lengthened slightly.
