Squint Clinic.
Report by Orthoptist (Miss G. Montague Smith).
The attendance at the Orthoptic Clinic are steadily increasing
and have been since the outbreak of war. Operation cases now
can be dealt with very promptly thanks to arrangements with
Whipps Cross and King's College Hospitals.
There is still a waiting list for patients requiring orthoptic
treatment, so these cases have to be kept under observation until
there is a vacancy.

Cases attending for preliminary tests and re-checking 78
Of these 78— 3 have left school.
15 are on the waiting list.
Unsuitable for treatment 1
Failure to attend regularly 7
Cases treated for Amblyopia (defective vision) 24
Of these 24— 2 have already commenced orthoptic
exercises.
12 are waiting for a vacancy for
orthoptic exercises.
Cases treated with Orthoptic Exercises 45
Of these 45—10 are still on treatment
5 are waiting for operation
11 are resting from treatment
19 are discharged.
Of the 19 discharged cases:—
4 are completely cured
7 are practically cured
2 are improved but unfinished
(one left district—one died)
4 are cosmetic results
2 are unresponsive.
